SUNSHINE COAST REGIONAL COUNCIL IS JUST DAYS AWAY FROM RELEASING THE NEW DRAFT PLANNING SCHEME FOR PUBLIC REVIEW AND FEEDBACK

The Sunshine Coast Regional Council is about to release the Draft Sunshine Coast Plan  on October 19th for review by the public and has invited community feedback to all aspects of this draft planning scheme.

If you are a property owner, investor or resident in the Sunshine Coast Council area or just an interested member of the public, you have an opportunity to fully appreciate what is being proposed in the Draft Sunshine Coast Plan and how this may affect or influence your future investments, lifestyle and amenity as this Draft Sunshine Coast Plan will strongly direct the development of all government and privately owned properties throughout the whole of the Sunshine Coast local government area for the next 7 or so years.

The Draft Sunshine Coast Plan presents preferences for future development of the Sunshine Coast Council area documented as a result of lengthy liaison between the Sunshine Coast Council and the Queensland State Government.

Therefore it is strongly recommended that property owners, investors, residents and any other interested members of the public provide Sunshine Coast Council with feedback now in response to the Draft Sunshine Coast Plan so that the Council can ascertain that community or individual interests are best represented for future uses and priorities.

Your public feedback which identifies concerns with particular provisions of the Draft Sunshine Coast Plan is potentially more effective in influencing Sunshine Coast Council when it is professionally prepared and therefore clearly and accurately identifies the grounds for such concern and provides detailed sensible and logical alternative approaches that could be included in the adopted version of new Sunshine Coast Plan to address such concerns.

New Planning Scheme for the Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast Council is developing a new planning scheme for the Sunshine Coast region which will replace the three existing planning schemes – the Caloundra City Plan 2004, the Maroochy Plan 2000 and the Noosa Plan 2006.  When finalised it will be the tool used by Council to manage land use and development for the region in a sustainable way.

Council has used the community feedback on the Statement of Proposals, Phase 2 consultation, strategies, policies and discussion papers, sought in 2009 and 2010 as part of the Our Place Our Future community engagement campaigns, to help inform the draft of the planning scheme.

Council  has advised that public consultation for the Draft Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme will commence from 19 October 2012 until 14 December 2012. Please contact our Noosa Office for specialist advice as to how the new scheme may affect you…………….
